    • Income from multiple states

    • International income or assets in another country

    • Plans to move from the US to Canada or vice versa

    • A business, LLC, or S-Corp

    • Tax-free stipends

    • A desire to start traveling for work

    • Rental property

    • A career as an athlete

    • Tax debt

  • You could, just like you could see a general practitioner for chronic headaches. Or you could see a neurologist, who specializes in what you need.

TravelTax specializes in multi-state filing and everything that goes along with it. We don’t just file your taxes and ensure each state is accounted for. We help make sure you’re maintaining your tax home correctly. We make sure you’re in total IRS compliance while receiving tax-free stipends. We go over how each of your work states interacts with your home state. We’re trained to catch every detail, which is important when there’s so much tax liability involved in being a traveling professional.

Dealing with a complex tax situation can be a headache. We’re here to alleviate the pain!

  • Our tax season officially starts on January 6th, so we’re ready to go when you are.

The earlier you sign your Engagement of Services Agreement, fill out your workbook, and submit all your documents, the earlier your appointment will be.

We recommend having your workbook filled out and ready to go by early January. That way, once you receive your W2(s), all you have to do is attach them to your workbook and hit submit. Be advised that we cannot schedule your tax appointment until we have all your statements of income (W2s, T4s).

  • If you’re a client of ours who has already signed the Engagement of Services Agreement and filled out your workbook, we’ll file an extension for you.

If it’s too late for a pre-deadline appointment, and you have not yet signed the Agreement or filled out your workbook, we’ll reach out to ask if you’re still filing with us. If you say yes, this lets us know you’ll need an extension,

We charge a $25 fee for any client who files an extension with us and does not complete their tax return with us.

  • Call us at (402) 379-7818 or email us at info@traveltax.com.

If adding a spouse, we’ll need your spouse’s name and an email address different from the one you use to login to the account.

If removing, we’ll create a separate account for the individual being removed.

Filing with a spouse means you both have equal access to the Engagement of Services Agreement and signature documents, and both your signatures will be required. While this agreement asks for the signatures of both parties in the case of married couples, we are willing to move you forward in the process with only one signature. However, be aware that this does not absolve one or both parties from the responsibilities of this agreement. One signature signifies agreement of both taxpayer and spouse. Both signatures will be needed on all tax return documents moving forward.

  • No.

  • Yes! Just give us a call at (402) 379-7818 to set one up.

  • If you travel and receive stipends, yes.

While we don’t require it, we heavily encourage it. There is a lot of tax liability involved with traveling. It’s easy to go a whole contract, or even several years, and later find that something was off with your stipends, or you weren’t actually maintaining your tax home correctly.

We’ve seen clients owe thousands as a result of this.

And unfortunately, recruiters, staffing agencies, and the internet aren’t always reliable sources. There is a lot of misinformation out there, and every traveler’s situation is unique.

Additionally, having a Tax Home Consult on file gives our preparers so much more context into your tax return when filing. Your preparer will not have time to go over these details during your tax appointment, which is why the consult is so important.

If we haven’t convinced you, please be sure you sign your Tax Home Consult Agreement when you fill out your workbook. This will tell us you’ve opted out of the consult and ensures we aren’t liable for anything that gets missed because your tax home situation was not disclosed to us.

  • We typically prefer that a traveler schedules an updated Tax Home Consult if their last consult was over two years ago, or if your travel situation has changed to the extent that you are no longer sure where your tax home is or if you’re maintaining it correctly. Click HERE to take a look at all the consults we offer and book one if you need it.

  • We guarantee to defend any audited return we filed. Just upload any relevant documents to your portal, and we’ll take care of it.

If you need a return amended that was filed elsewhere, create an account with us and send a message in your portal. We address all amends for outside returns after our official tax season has ended.

Check out THIS PAGE to find out more about our audit process.

  • Upload your letter into your client portal and send us a message. Your preparer’s assistant will be in touch with you regarding next steps.
